It’s 1994, and after 12 years of serving in the United States Air Force as a German/Russian Linguist, I was faced with a decision; “what do I do now?”

My name is Dennis Lord. At the age of 34, I essentially started a second life. My first life had taken me to places around the world. Born into a military family, I spent much of my life all over Europe however I call Kaiserslautern, Germany “home.” Having a passion for sports, I had the privilege of playing football and soccer during my time in Germany.

My second life brought me back to the United States permanently. I found myself in Columbus, OH and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in International Business. It was here I met my wife Andrea with whom we have three children (Grace 19, Jackson 16, and Hunter 14). Grace is a freshman at the University of Tennessee and the boys both attend Homestead High School.

My path to Advertising Sales with Lamar was more by God’s plan than mine, but what an amazing journey it has been. It’s a path that includes, not only career growth, but personal as well. Over the last 20 years with Lamar, I have consistently exceeded sales goals in every position. And, with each career advance came a new office, a new state and new opportunities for personal exploration, drawing upon my passions. My passions have included coaching youth soccer, volunteering with “Learn to Skate” and “Learn to Play” programs for youth hockey, golfing, and traveling to follow my kids' sport’s activities.

I firmly believe in leading by example. My success has been built on the philosophy that just because it has “always been done like this,” doesn’t mean it always must be done like this, and finding ways to work smarter, not harder. I have taught my kids that saying “I can’t” is unacceptable, and I try to emulate that in what I do. Every new challenge is just a path to a new opportunity.
